2016 Hyundai Tucson Nominated for Green SUV of the Year
Billings and Lockwood drivers will surely be happy to hear that the all-new 2016 Hyundai Tucson has been named a finalist for the 2016 Green SUV of the Year award. Presented by Green Car Journal, this award honors the most efficient vehicles from the SUV and crossover segments, and we’re proud to see that the 2016 Hyundai Tucson has caught their attention.
The Green SUV of the Year Award
The Green SUV of the Year award is given out each year, with five finalists being chosen from among all the crossovers and SUVs currently available. Each one is vetted to determine their environmental advantages and breakthroughs, with an overarching goal of identifying nominees that move in an environmentally positive direction without lacking an engaging drive.
Efficiency, weight reduction, powertrain advances, and the use of alternative or clean-burning fuels are all considered. For 2016, the Tucson made the grade, and we’re confident that we’ll see it named as the overall winner at the Washington Auto Show on January 21, 2016.
The 2016 Green SUV of the Year
In the words of Ron Cogan, editor and publisher of Green Car Journal and CarsOfChange.com, “The Hyundai Tucson shows that new-generation crossovers can offer desired performance and loads of versatility while still delivering impressive fuel economy.”
With such praise in mind, it should come as no surprise that the 2016 Tucson was named a finalist for the Green SUV of the Year award. The real news is with the available 1.6L direct-injected, turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which makes up to 26 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway with a first-in-segment seven-speed EcoShift dual-clutch transmission.
However, even standard models are fitted with a 2.0L four-cylinder engine to make up to 23 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. Either way, you’ll enjoy strong performance and plenty of space alongside the efficiency ratings you’d expect from a midsize sedan.
The 2016 Hyundai Tucson Makes Green Credentials a Top Priority
The 2016 Hyundai Tucson is one of the most efficient models in its segment, so we’re sure it can snag the Green SUV of the Year award. If you’d like to find out more about this celebrated crossover, just contact Underriner Hyundai.
