We’re proud to announce to Billings and Lockwood customers that the 2016 Hyundai Tucson has been named the J. D. Power’s 2016 APEAL award winner. This is an all-new vehicle for the current year, so we’re absolutely thrilled to see it hit the ground running by engaging with drivers all across the country. Keep reading to learn more about this coveted award and how the Tucson beat out the competition.
The J. D. Power 2016 APEAL Award
J. D. Power’s Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout (APEAL) Study is now in its 21st year, and has been used across those decades to evaluate people’s emotional attachments to their vehicle, as well as their levels of excitement across 77 separate attributes.
From the power you feel when you hit the gas to the sense of comfort you experience when slipping into your driver’s seat, the APEAL study takes everything into account, then measures vehicles on a 1,000-point scale. That makes this one of the most innovative studies around. After all, even the most precise spec sheet and features list won’t be able to tell you how it really feels to own a certain model.
The 2016 Hyundai Tucson
When all measures had been evaluated, it was found that the 2016 Tucson ably outscored other small SUVs across a wide range of categories, including efficiency, seating, HVAC, cargo capacity, visibility, driving, interior, audio, communication, entertainment, and navigation. That’s a lot to get excited about.
The new Tucson fits the bill for a beloved vehicle, and we’ve certainly seen Billings and Lockwood drivers respond with unanimous positivity when they’ve visited Underriner Hyundai for a test drive.
With two fuel efficient engines on offer and one of the roomiest cabins in the segment, it should come as no surprise to learn that the vehicle came out on top. After all, you’ll find up to 61.9 cubic feet of cargo room and earn up to 26 mpg in the city and 32 on the highway.
Also of note is the vehicle’s impressive list of driver assistance technologies. These were ranked as one of the most important factors to respondents in the APEAL study, and the Tucson can offer: Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Mitigation with Automatic Braking and Pedestrian Detection, and a Remote package for stolen vehicle recovery and the ability to set electronic parameter settings.
